The Alberta Snowboarding Association is committed to providing a competition series that provides amateur snowboarders with an opportunity to gain competitive experience within a positive and structure series.

The AB Cup Snowboard Series is a group of provincial snowboard competitions sanctioned by the ASA, the Canadian Snowboard Federation (CSF), and the Federation Internationale de Ski (FIS). The AB Cup Snowboard Series provides opportunities to compete for FIS points and AB Cup Points. FIS points are awarded based on the FIS points system and AB Cup Points are awarded based on the riders finish in their age category. Prizing is also based on these age categories. The breakdown for age categories is:

  • FIS — FIS licensed athlete only
  • Senior — 17 years and older
  • Junior — 15 and 16 years
  • Novice — 13 and 14 years
  • Tyke — 12 and under

These events are the developmental events for young riders, as well as a tool for more established snowboarders to gain points. The series is designed to promote quality regional snowboard events in Alberta and recognize the achievements of the riders that compete in them. The AB Cup Snowboard Series includes the four FIS disciplines of:

  • Alpine (Parallel Giant Slalom and Parallel Slalom)
  • Halfpipe
  • Snowboardcross

Individual snowboarders and teams are encouraged to register in advance to secure spots for these events. Online registration is available through our online registration (see below), or you can contact the ASA Office to register.

Athletes wishing to compete in the AB Cup Snowboard Series must carry an ASA Competitive Membership or other recognized PSA membership.
